About Myrmecocystus navajo:

American Species- Honeypot ants (found in USA)

Description: Myrmecocystus navajo are a desert species from America. They're a very unique and large species of ant due to the way they produce repletes which are workers that are used as food storage. They fill their gasters up to larger than a grape-like size with nectar and hang upside down from the ceiling of their nest.

Myrmecocystus navjo are very similar to giant golden honeypots (but they are cheaper and easier for kids to handle!)

Golden Honeypot Ants are one of the prettiest Myrmecocystus species in USA because their golden abdomen is translucent, allowing you to see the color of nectar they ate. They can be slow-growing in the founding stages but soon pick up the pace as they mature.

Diet: Water (at all times), Nectar, and Protein - like fresh-killed insects

Sizes: Queen- 12mm. Workers are around 6- 10mm. Huge storage ants about 12mm.

For Beginners? Yes! They are very easy to take care of, and are great to observe.

Guaranteed Safe Arrival? YES!
